Former Chelsea star, Eni Aluko has described goalkeeper Edouard Mendy’s omission from this year’s Ballon d’ Or 30-man shortlist as ‘very odd’.
Aluko believes Mendy should have been included in the Ballon d’ Or 30-man nominees released recently.
DAILY POST reports that the 30-man shortlist for this year’s Ballon d’Or was announced some few days ago, with five Chelsea players included.
Cesar Azpilicueta, Romelu Lukaku, Mason Mount Jorginho and N’Golo Kante, all made the cut.
Mendy enjoyed a stunning debut season in the English Premier League, EPL, and capped it off by winning the UEFA Champions League, as Chelsea defeated Premier League champions Manchester City 1-0 in the final.
The Senegal goalkeeper also won the UEFA Super Cup with Thomas Tuchel’s men.
Speaking on the development, Aluko told BT Sport: “He’s arguably Chelsea’s most important player. He’s irreplaceable.
“His omission from the Ballon d’Or list is very odd.”
